On 10 September 2022, it was the lunar calendar 八月十五 which is the Mid-Autumn Festival.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional festival celebrated in the Chinese culture.
The Mid-Autumn Festival was celebrated during ancient times to give thanks to the harvest during the autumn period.
Nowadays, Chinese communities celebrate this festival as a reunion period, and gather with family, relatives or friends. They enjoy this festival by eating mooncakes and drinking tea while viewing the lovely full moon. Family and friends could participate in events with lanterns display and lantern riddles. Children and young people might also like to play with lanterns.
Common myths about the Mid-Autumn Festival would be Chang-E and the Jade Rabbit.
I’m sharing some photos I took on 10 September.
For those that are in Singapore, you can still enjoy the captivating lanterns display from now until 18 September 2022, from 7pm to 11pm.
