Why Travel?

If you ask 10 people if they love travelling, 8 or 9 out of 10 would tell you that they do, and they wish they have more time and financial resources to be able to travel more often.

Why do people love to travel? It’s because as humans, we crave for new experiences and want something different from our routine life. Travel fulfills living a beautiful life, allows one to explore the unfamiliar and discover new places and make new friends.  Of course, when travelling, sometimes you also experience unexpected events that might cause some unpleasantness or anxiety.

Become a Traveller, not a Tourist

Travelling is one of the best ways to live a beautiful live, explore the unfamiliar and discover the world. However, I think it would be a better choice to become a traveller rather than a tourist.

Travel for experiences and to make new friends

It has been a few weeks since my last post. Sorry to those who have been waiting for a new post from me. I was travelling in the past 3 weeks, exploring many parts of Japan.

I have always loved to travel and relish the adventure of solo travels. Although tired and feeling sometimes frustrated because of language barriers, it all turned out well and I made a few new friends from different countries  when I stayed in dorms.

Staying true to my motto of “live, explore and discover”, I spent time living like a local at times, soaking myself in onsens, taking the local trains and subways, exploring the markets and temples, and discovering more not only of the tourist attractions in Japan, but the culture in Japan.

In my next few posts, I’ll share more of my travel experiences in Japan, so stay tune.

Why “LED”?

While brainstorming and checking availability of domains, I finally decided on “LiveExploreDiscover” also because it is beautifully abbreviated to LED. What’s LED?

This abbreviation is most commonly used to stand for Light Emitting Diode. Why does this tiny item fascinate me? LEDs emit light when conducting current. Although small, they are used in many electrical applications. They are used to light up sign boards, they can be found in your computers or television screens. An LED only emits a small amount of light, but collectively, they can brighten up a big area.

It’s a metaphor that each person might only contribute a small part to the global world, but collectively, we can do something great. It also means that our small gestures might light up people’s lives although we might not think anything of it. We thought we are insignificant. We thought we have nothing great to offer the world. But we are so wrong. Each of us emits a tiny spark and collectively as a group, we can play a bigger role in the global world.

Do not underestimate the value of yourself. You have more value than you think you have.

Become a LEDer

What’s the purpose of this website? I have long wanted to buy a domain and create a website. However, what’s that something that I want to write about? I explored a travel blog but I understand that it was not sustainable as I don’t do overseas travel often. We need to post at least once a week if we want to build up a blog.
