What Driving Has Taught me?

Horray, I passed my driving test last week and got my driving licence. It had taken me almost a year of practical lessons to finally finish all the required lessons before I was able to go for the test. I was overjoyed that I passed the test on my first attempt and didn’t get many points deducted during the test. As I had enjoyed learning how to drive, and my instructors were helpful and friendly, it was a pleasant experience. I had also intentionally spread out the lessons, so that the learning period would be longer. This is because my family doesn’t own a car, so it would be more difficult for me to practice driving after finishing all my lessons.

I was at a mall waiting for the library to open when I dropped by Popular Bookstore to browse some books. A powerful emotion struck me when I read the words “What I know for sure?” written by Oprah Winfrey.

My mind raced and they say that the first thought that comes to your mind will be your real thought. What comes to my mind? Death. Yes, to some people, it might seem morbid to talk about death.

Be the Next Leonardo da Vinci

When we were young, we might have thought of becoming a scientist in one instance, than a singer in another? Or we dreamt of going into outer space as an astronaut when we watched on televisions rockets launching into the sky, but in the next moment, we thought it would be better to stay grounded on earth and become a doctor?

Could it be possible that in our lifetime, we could take on many of these roles that we used to dream of ?

Buddhist Wisdom on Positive Thinking

I don’t subscribe to any particular religion. So, I would sometimes read different religious books, as there’s always valuable insights and wisdom in each religion.

Recently I was reading a book about Buddhist Wisdom and would like to share some of the guidelines from the book on positive thinking. It’s a free booklet which I picked up in my neighbourhood. For those who are interested in the book, the title is “Glimpses of Buddhist Wisdom” written by Ven. Dr. P.
